Skin Care

Women (and indeed men!) have looked after their skin for centuries. It is thought that the first skin care products were developed centuries ago in ancient civilizations such as China. Nowadays, this part of the cosmetics industry is major business. There are a wide variety of products available for both women and men that deal with both regular (i.e. daily) care routines and products that can be used simply every now and then when you need some extra help.

For many people a regular skin care routine does become part of their daily lives. Many women, for example, will follow a series of specific steps every day to clean and look after their facial skin. The routine that you follow here will depend on your own personal preferences. Common steps include:

As well as a daily skin care routine many people will have other products that they use in this area of the cosmetics market. They may not use them every day but they may use them regularly or when they feel that their skin needs an extra boost. So, for example, they may exfoliate areas of their skin once a week or every couple of weeks to get rid of dead skin cells. You can use a variety of products here from specialist exfoliators through to face masks.

Skin care isn’t just about looking after your face, however, and you can pick and choose from many different products designed to help either general or specific areas of your skin on your body. You might, for example, use a special foot care product to help you keep the skin on your feet smooth and to get rid of rough patches.

Other common skin care products in use here include general body products such as body butters and moisturisers that are designed to keep your hands smooth and soft. Some people may use a variety of different products depending on the area that they are concentrating on whilst others may simply stick to two or three general products.
